Description
There are many modern and classic analytical methods that can be used to identify an organic compound and test its purity, but melting point determination remains probably the fastest, most simple and yet quite accurate one. Melting point apparatuses may be of the Thiele tube, Fisher-Johns, Gallenkamp and automatic type. The device usually heats a glass capillary that is loaded with a sample. Different heating, temperature measurement and melting process detection methods are employed. In addition to the working temperature range, these characteristics define the melting point measurement device.
