Environmental physiology
Description
Environmental physiology investigates how physiology of an organism responds and adapts to external conditions. Adaptive mechanisms are particularly important to plants since it’s the only possible response to adverse conditions. Mechanisms that allow plants to endure such conditions as extreme heat, cold, lack of sunlight/water and overabundance of sunlight/water are studied in order to find their collective effect on the life cycle of the plant.
