Description
Respiratory system is a part of an organism that exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide with the environment. In vertebrates respiration takes place in lungs which intake and expel air due to cyclic contractions and relaxations of the respiratory muscles. Other important part of the respiratory system is the airway which consists of the nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and broncioles that carry the air between the lungs and the body’s exterior.
