Description
Cell-cell interactions play a crucial role in the organization of cells into tissues. Interactions between plant cells mainly occur through plasmodesmata – specialized junctions in cell walls that connect the cytosol of adjacent cells. Both the movement of small and medium-sized molecules between plant cells and the regulation of this movement is investigated. Obtained knowledge helps to better understand the development of plant cells and tissues as well as plant defenses against pathogens.
